Search in either language
Type peut-être or type “maybe”. One search box covers verbs, vocabulary, phrases and the full curated collection, and it forgives your accents and your typos.
Conjugation that explains itself
Présent, passé composé, imparfait, futur, conditionnel, subjonctif — with a short note on why the irregular ones behave the way they do, instead of a table you're expected to memorise blind.
Pronunciation you can hear
IPA on every entry, and a speaker button on every word, phrase and example sentence. The French voice is the system's, so it sounds the same as the rest of your phone.

Reading French is easy. Producing it is the hard part.
Listen, then say it
Hear the phrase, repeat it into the microphone, and see which words came through. It's a mirror, not a grade — the point is to get your mouth moving before you need it in a bakery.
Spaced recall
Anything you save enters a review schedule. Items you find easy come back rarely; ones you fumble come back soon. You never pick what to revise, because that's the part people get wrong.

Questions
Straight answers
Does it work without a connection?
Yes. The entire catalogue is bundled inside the app, so lookups, conjugation tables, pronunciation and the widget all work in aeroplane mode. A connection is only needed to purchase, to restore a purchase, and to sync favourites between devices.
What do you do with my data?
We don't sell it, we don't share it with advertisers, and there is no tracking SDK in the app. You can use the whole thing without giving a name or an email — an anonymous account is created for you and that's enough. We record coarse product analytics (which screens get used, whether a practice session finished) to decide what to build next. What you search, type, copy, translate or say into the microphone is never included. The privacy policy spells it out.
How accurate is the content?
Mostly hand-checked, and we're honest about the rest. The verb, vocabulary and phrase libraries are written and reviewed. Within the 1,252-item curated collection, a portion of the English meanings came from machine translation and are still working through editorial review — usable, but the part we'd fix first. Spot a bad one and tell us; it gets corrected.
Android?
Not yet. Pocket French is an iPhone app today, and several things it leans on — the widget timeline, on-device translation, the system French voice — are Apple-specific and would need real work rather than a recompile. We'd rather say “no” than ship a worse version of it.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases go through Apple, so refunds do too — use reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue them ourselves, but if something is broken, write to us and we'll usually fix it faster than the refund takes.
